7:05PM-MLB: Strasburg Gets Win or Strasburg Doesn’t Get Win

Tonight could be the most exciting debut for a rookie in recent memory. Stephen Strasburg the 21 year-old phenom will be making his major league debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates. If you know nothing of this young man I recommend you get onto YouTube and search for him because this guy is the real deal. With an overpowering fastball that has reached 100 mph and a devastating curveball that can freeze any batter will be on display in a sold out Nationals Park. This prop pick is quite simple, is Strasburg going to earn the victory or will he not. Also if you were wondering Jeff Karstens will be the Pirates starter in this game.

Streakfacts:

  • Pittsburgh is 9-19 on the road
  • Washington is 15-12 at home
  • In 1 start vs. Washington, Kastens is 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA (6 innings, 4 ER, 2 BB and 2 K), is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA this season
  • Strasburg in Triple-A Syracuse went 4-1 with a 1.08 ERA, in 33.1 innings pitched he struck out 38 and walked 7 batters
  • Pittsburgh is 8-7 against Washington over the last 3 seasons
  • Washington is 4-4 at home against Pittsburgh over the last 3 seasons
  • Washington’s odds to win are at -205

Schneps picks Strasburg Gets Win **(2 out of 5)

The Nationals are hoping that with so much hype around the game that they can manage to give Strasburg his first career win at home. I do believe this kid is talented enough to go the whole game but he may be on a strict pitch count if he gets wild or is getting hit up by the Pirates, but I am not to worried about that all.  I am worried that if he goes 6 or 7 strong innings that the bullpen may not hold the lead for him if he does have the lead after being taken out. So I may avoid this pick all together if I were you, but this kid has some unbelievable talent. So if you want to take this prop I would say he gets the win, just so I can cheer for this kid to succeed.

GOOD LUCK STEPHEN STRASBURG!
